Victoria's Secret show 2014

As if the British Fashion Awards weren’t exciting enough, the Victoria’s Secret show 2014 took place in London for the very first time! Hysteria for the show has been steadily building since the themes and incredible costume sketches were unveiled.  Thanks to social media and in particular Instagram, we’ve had a sneak peek of the gruelling preparation and glamorous private jet in the lead up to the big event through the eyes of Karlie Kloss, Doutzen Kroes, Candice Swanepoel et al.

Joined with honorary Angel Taylor Swift, shoes designed by Nicholas Kirkwood and Sophia Webster and not one but TWO fantasy bras, this has to be the biggest Victoria's Secret show to date. I’m sure we’ve all seen the show and highlights as it’s aired in over 200 countries but I wanted to share my favourite candid images from behind-the-scenes, which are even better than the show. Who’s your favourite Victoria’s Secret Angel?

The 2012 Victoria's Secret show

The 2012 Victoria's Secret show was extremely well timed. Post Sandy, I think New York really needed an *ahem* boost and what's more exciting than seeing the Victoria's Secret Angels slink down the runway?! They were angels in more ways than one, the VS guys ended up loaning the National Guard their generators and a forklift so they could provide hurricane relief. The show itself was divided into six themes: Circus, Dangerous Liaisons, Calendar Girls, Pink is Us, Silver Screen Angels and Angels in Bloom. Justin Beiber, Rihanna and Bruno Mars provided musical entertainment while familar Angels strut down the catwalk alongside new faces Cara Delevigne and Jourdan Dunn.

Victoria's Secret fashion show 2011

What a show, what a show. I'm going to keep the text very brief as I gave you guys a head's up in my previous post, besides a picture is worth a thousand words. While Doutzen Kroes and Miranda Kerr's post baby figures look unbelievable, show opener Candice Swanepoel and closer Karlie Kloss were the stand out Angels for me. Karlie is undeniably the girl of the moment and a Super in the making.

I really loved the butterfly, ballet and underwater themes for their delicate beauty, twinkling jewels and winged heels - I need those in my life. I wasn't so keen on the superhero theme but it was still a great show and I can't wait to see it when it airs.

Victoria's Secret fashion show 2011 sneak peek

Like Christmas, the Victoria's Secret fashion show comes but once a year. The 2011 extravaganza is being filmed today and will air on 29th November but I know you can't wait til then so I have a few tidbits to tide you over. This year's show has a budget of $12m, there are several themes but ballet and angels are set to be the key ones. There are 38 Victoria's Secret Angels gracing the runway. I mentioned that Karlie Kloss gets her wings in my Friday Fashion Fix post, she will be joined by 14 additional newcomers. Victoria's Secret veteran Adriana Lima trained twice a day for 3 weeks and abstained from solid food for 9 days to get into shape for the show! Adriana is one of my favourite Angels (her face is just perfection in the picture below) but a liquid diet and that much exercise doesn't sound very healthy. Miranda Kerr was chosen the wear the highlight of the collection, a $2.5m bra along with oyster shell 'wings'. Are you looking forward to this year's Victoria's Secret fashion show?

Friday Fashion Fix

Edward Enninful and Lori Goldstein's first W magazine issue.

The all-star September 2011 issue of W marks the first full issue with Edward Enninful as the fashion and style director and Lori Goldstein as style editor-at-large. Collaborating with photographers such as Mario Sorrenti, Steven Klein and Mert & Marcus shooting the creme de la creme of the modelling world including Amber Valletta, Sasha Pivovarova, Freja Beha, Lara Stone, Raquel Zimmermann, Jessica Stam....ok I'll stop there. You know this is one September issue not to miss.

Giambattista Valli for Macys.

Wow, Macys is stepping it up and shifting into the fashion fast lane. Hot on the heels of their collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld comes news of a super collab with Giambattista Valli in October, just in time to bring us pretty party dresses for our Christmas parties. Priced between $50-150, the collection comprises of cocktail dresses, skirts and blouses as well as jackets, trousers and graphic tees. I'm hoping for the luxe label's signature brights and texture. And that they ship internationally! The collaboration is a good move, Giambattista Valli is a little under the radar and will appeal to a different, more discerning fashion market.

Kate Bosworth for Vanessa Bruno.

Kate Bosworth looks so beautiful in the Vanessa Bruno campaign, the perfect fit for this Nordic-inspired collection.

Victoria's Secret opening in the UK.

Major news! Boux Avenue, La Senza et al, you better step your game up, Victoria's Secret is landing on Bond Street next year and I can't wait. Let's hope that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and the other Angels put on a Victoria's Secret show for London to mark the occasion.
