Louis Vuitton AW12 press day

I don't think there was a single fashion-loving girl who didn't wish she was aboard the Louis Vuitton Express in February as the extravagant luxury brand showcased their autumn/winter 2012 collection. I've watched the show and poured over the images countless times so I was beyond excited to receive an invite to their AW12 press day. The show is a visual feast, from the elaborate staging, adorable porters to the pieces themselves and the beautiful accessories so it was wonderful to have the opportunity to see everything up close to admire the details.

Lulu Guinness AW12 press day

A couple of weeks ago, I hopped and skipped across the cobbles of Carnaby Street to check out Lulu Guinness’ AW13 press day. I’ve got to admit, I’m a Lulu girl so this post will contain a lot of gushing about the cute and quirky collection. Entitled “Don’t just a book by its cover”, the collection is inspired by vintage bookstores as well as Audrey Hepburn’s Funny Face. There were lots of gorgeous new additions as well as updates to the classic “lips” clutches and “Doll Face” collection. Lulu created some lovely book clutches which look just like beautiful leather-bound books and they have lovely saying embroidered on the front. I loved the Pearls of Wisdom and Dare to be Different bags.

Eskimo PR SS12 press day

A couple of months ago, I popped over to the Oui Rooms to take a sneak peek at Eskimo PR's spring/summer 2012 press day. They represent some super cool brands, here are my favourite collections:

Chinese Laundry: Launched over 20 years ago, Chinese Laundry are masters of quirky, statement footwear. Snakeskin is continuing to be a strong trend for spring and I loved the coloured chunky platforms, patterned wedges and pretty patent pastel heels.

Rare fashion press day SS12

I'm usually super excited about the press days I've been to and I share my images within days but I had to save these images from the Rare Fashion spring/summer 2012 press day. The collection was so vibrant and pretty, it's perfect for perking up a rather dull and drab January. The collection was their biggest yet and really did feature something for everyone, from pretty pastels and neutrals to high octane neon lace and technicolour prints. The tribal-inspired pieces, pretty floral prints and gorgeous fringed pieces are perfect for the festival season and sunny summer holidays.

Clothing at Tesco F&F SS12 press day

Last week, I headed to the iconic OXO Tower for Clothing at Tesco's SS12 press day. After a brisk walk down a cold and dark South Bank, I stepped through the doors into a tropical summer setting. It was a lovely - and much needed - surprise, the bright lights and bold colours really brightened up my day. The vivid hues coupled with statement stripes, ditzy dots and fabulous florals made for a really eyecatching statement and a very strong collection - all at affordable prices. It's the most fashion-forward collection I've seen from F&F and really proved that supermarket chic does exist. The collection has really raised the bar for affordable fashion, New Look et al should take note.

Forever 21 SS12 press day

Forever 21 has to be one of the UK's best loved US exports; the fast fashion, low price point strategy makes it an instant strong contender to the likes of H&M. The store opening on Oxford Street causes hysteria and the fluorescent pink bags swinging from every other person swishing down London's iconic shopping street are an ever present reminder of the popularity of the brand. It was interesting to have a sneak peek into their collection for spring/summer 2012, which was a riot of fun colours and sixties simplicity mixed with Japanese-inspired florals and Riviera-esque stripes.

Lulu Guiness SS12 press day

Lulu Guinness is always a little breath of fresh air during the relentless, seemingly never ending press day schedule. I always walk into the venue a little late and a lot stressed but walk out refreshed with a smile on my face. It's hard not to walk away from the Queen on Quirk feeling lighthearted, her super fun designs are so infectious. Lulu was inspired by holidays for her spring/summer 2012 collection; evident by the cool neutral colour palette, sunglass details, quirky prints and camera-inspired designs. I've fallen for the updated Doll Face bags, she is looking effortlessly chic in her sunnies! The lips clutches are still on my lust list too, the nude pastel shades look so fresh while the snakeskin version are just such a statement.

The autumn/winter 2011 and cruise collections are available to buy now on the Lulu Guinness site.

Next Christmas press day 2011

Held at the cavernous Old Billingsgate Market, Next's Christmas 2011 press day was a bit of an extravaganza. Earlier in the afternoon, they had a star-studded fashion show with the likes of Jourdan Dunn and Geri Halliwell taking to the catwalk! By the time I arrived, everything had calmed down and I had plenty of time to peruse the collections. Daywear is bold, bright and cosy with lots of snuggly puffa jackets to keep you warm and ditsy prints to brighten up your wardrobe while eveningwear is heavily embellished with liberal smatterings of sequins and beading on gorgeous sheer fabrics and sumptuous jewel tones. The beaded flapper dresses were my favourites as well as the shoes. Those snakeskin heels have just a hint of Yves Saint Laurent about them, don't they?

The gorgeous homeware collections are also worth a mention, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! I do love traditional red and green at Christmas but the icey blue, winter wonderland colours are so chic.

The kids collections are adorable, aren't they?! Really looking forward to dressing my neices up in the pretty party dresses. My nephew is a little too young to be sorting that dapper suit and bow tie combo but next year....!

A fairytale evening with Wild Swans

The lovely Dena organised a special, intimate blogger party at a very special London boutique. Named after the fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen, Wild Swans boutique is a magical land of beautiful Scandinavian design. The interior of the shop is stunning, brightly lit with white floors, walls and furniture, the perfect setting to house their Scandinavian fashion and homeware brands which include Day Birger et Mikkelson, Fnug, Hanne Bloch, Malou Sander and Malene Birger.

TK Maxx AW11 press day

Every fashionista has her secrets, whether it’s being on a first name basis with sales assistants at your favourite boutique or having the 411 on the latest sample sales. It’s a bit of hard work though, isn’t it? As much as I love spending a ridiculous about of time in Selfridges, I don’t think anyone there actually knows my name. Sample sales sound great in theory – I mean who wouldn’t love an Erdem skirt for £100 – but you need sharp elbows and eyes like a hawk to get anything decent. As much as I love a bargain, I need my shopping to be a little calmer and more organised. That’s why my little shopping secret is TK Maxx. I know the common misconception is that it’s old season stock and stores look like a jumble sale but that couldn’t be further from the truth. The majority of stock is current season while a small percentage is past season and the shops are well laid out. Larger stores have a Gold Label section, which features the likes of Stella, Versace and Marni with up to 60% off.
The fashion focus of TK Maxx was very much evident at their autumn/winter 2011 press day. The key trends you can expect in store include Country Heritage, Seventies and Jewel Colours, showing that the buyers definitely have their finger on the fashion pulse. The preview of their Christmas range really blew me away. Think Moschino, Giambattista Valli and lots of faux fur. My top tip is to check out the store on Charing Cross Road, it’s big, very boutique-y and has an awesome Gold Label section.

Rare press day AW11

A couple of weeks ago, I popped over to Soho to have a preview of Rare's Autumn/Winter 2011 collection. Regular readers will know that I adore Rare for their comfy, easy to wear casuals as well as the head-turning dresses in the  Opulence range. The brand is really developing their signature: florals, prints, pleating and texture. I was glad to see the Autumn/Winter collection steers clear of depressing dark colours and injects some fun, colour and pretty, pretty prints to brighten up the darker months. Pleating, plaiting and embellishment are the pretty cherry on top of a beautifully girly cake.

Thanks to OPI and Lash Out lashes for the pampering and Think Publicity for being lovely, warm and welcoming as usual.

Matalan press day - Autumn/Winter 2011

A couple of weeks ago, the lovely folks over at Matalan kindly invited me to their autumn/winter 2011 press day. I adore Matalan, especially their shoes so I was keen to see what they had in store for next season. The collection had me wishing the months away so I could wrap up in the gorgeous textures and feel really cosy. The knits were snuggly soft and featured both textured knits like cable knit and patterned knits like fairisle print. Pattern was a big theme throughout the collection as a whole, with paisley, polkadot, hearts, florals and snowflake prints being layered and mismatched on top of each other for a nomadic look. Jolts of bright colours injected throughout the collection brightened it up and the accessories were as strong as the clothing.

I also adore Matalan homewares, there's always a huge choice and the pieces are both girly and very affordable. I've got tons of picture frames and lanterns from Matalan but I've got my eye on the pretty floral crockery now.
