Top Five: Christmas Party Outfits

I love the festive season. It’s such a great time of year to catching up with friends, celebrate and of course dressing up and looking cute. But my goodness, there are So. Many. Events. Has anyone else noticed that the list of Christmas parties in their diary has quadrupled?! This year I have three work parties alone plus all the dinners, drinks and parties with friends. And of course, I’m bored of my entire wardrobe which means I must buy a new one. There’s nothing like the stress of outfit planning to make you despair at all of your past sartorial choices!

The likes of Topshop and ASOS have long been my failsafe go to shops, 99% of the time I will find exactly what I’m after and probably a lot more! But with a gauntlet of events to navigate without making the ultimate party faux pas and wearing the same outfit as someone else, the obvious choices must be avoided. I’ve rounded up my favourite looks from more under-the-radar shops to help you look your best during the party season:

  1. Whistles Rossi Strappy dress – Was £195, now £155
Invest in this dress and it will be the hardest working piece in your wardrobe come party season. The demure length is great for work, just slip a blazer over to cover up your shoulders and the cut outs. After work, just refresh your make up, tousle your hair and slip off the jacket and you’re good to go.
  2. The Finery Rosetta jumpsuit - £75
I *love* The Finery. It’s a bit of a fashion industry fave, whenever I’m at an event and bump into someone looking impeccable, they’re always wearing The Finery. This jumpsuit is utter perfection, velvet and exposed shoulders tick two major trend boxes and the midnight blue shade looks so decadent.
  3. Next lace fringed dress - £45
Black is a great colour, always chic and understated. But it’s such a default shade, particularly during the party season. This deep red dress will really make a statement in a sea of black. The shape is simple and flattering so you can accessorise it up or down.
  4. Dorothy Perkins velvet slip dress – Was £45, now £33.75
I have to admit, I haven’t shopped in Dorothy Perkins for years. More fool me, because this dress is stunning. Like The Finery jumpsuit, it ticks two trend boxes – velvet and the 90s. It’s super chic but the lace cut outs give is a flirty, playful edge.
  5. Next metallic playsuit - £55
Channel serious mermaid vibes with this beautiful little metallic jumpsuit. I’m a sucker for iridescent metallic pieces so I’m totally obsessed with this piece. I’d keep it simple and style it with a pair of simple courts and a clutch.
