London Collections: Men - Topman Design SS15

With the invite alluding to ‘seventiesnineties’ and show notes citing influences ranging from psychedelia and Woodstock flares to Britpop and parkas, Topman Design’s SS15 collection was a potent juxtaposition of aesthetics. Dreamy, faded pastel flares and kimonos alongside bold floral print shirts and a super slim Britpop silhouette and the obligatory parka, the collection sometimes felt like a battle between the Seventies and the Nineties. This isn’t a bad thing; in fact it was deliberate and made for a very cool, laid back collection. The Twitter jury was divided but if you understand that the more-is-more, slightly chaotic aesthetic is deliberate and playful, then it makes for a super fun, hard to ignore collection.
