Isabel Marant pour H&M 2013

When H&M announced the details of their latest designer collaboration with Isabel Marant, it’s safe to say opinion was divided between those who couldn’t wait to get their hands of H&Marant and those who didn’t think it would work. The collaboration with one of fashion’s favourites is a key move for H&M who seem to be keen to tap into the high fashion consumer market, especially since the Lanvin, Margiela and Anna Dello Russo collections. But while the Lanvin and Margiela collections caused overnight camping, insane queues and universal hysteria, the Anna Dello Russo jewellery collection, while much loved by fashionistas, ended up lingering on the shelves and eventually on sale.
For me, the success of the Isabel Marant collaboration seems to be more of a dead cert. Whether her name is well known enough to the masses to cause a frenzy is almost by-the-by, pretty much everyone who shops on the highstreet is a consumer of Isabel Marant, knowingly or otherwise. Marant’s Parisian cool is one of the most emulated looks on the high street and the springboard for the biggest trends in the last few years including wedge heel trainers, folksy embroidery and nonchalant, rock 'n' roll silhouettes.
The best indicator that the collection will be a success? A couple of days ago, Marant released a couple of sneak peeks of the collection and the internet exploded with coverage on every single glossy magazine and news site as well as Twitter hysteria. From what I’ve seen, the collection is very Marant; easy, breezy and casual. I sincerely hope those boots are part of the collection, how incredible are they?! The collection, which includes Marant’s first foray into menswear, will be available in 250 stores worldwide and online on 14th November 2013.
