Stella McCartney SS12 campaign

Stella McCartney's SS12 campaign features close friend Natalia Vodianova and was shot by Mert & Marcus. It should come as no surprise that Natalia did the honours as she opened Stella's show in Paris last September. The campaign has a raw edge, I don't think I really 'got' it at first glance but I love the images now. The shots feature two pieces: the ink Paisley print shirt and matching trousers as well as the Fitzroy dress with 3D embroidered edges. The collection has already been a hit with celebrities/stylists, back in December Charlize Theron wore  a one shouldered mini dress to the LA premiere for "Young Adults" while Shailene Woodley wore a blue patterned long sleeve top with a gorgeous matching mini for the 2012 Palms Springs Film Festival.

Agent Provocateur SS12

How beautiful are Agent Provocateur's SS12 campaign images?! The fuzzy, soft-focus gives the images a nostalgic, sensual Seventies. The collection is inspired by David Hamilton images and films such as Emmanuelle and The Story of O, resulting in a gorgeous collection of pretty prints, sumptuous fabrics and dusky shades. The campaign features French acrress Mylene Jampanoi wearing key pieces from the range. My favourite image (above) features the Daena collection, which pays homage to the Dutch masters of the 1700s. The pretty, romantic prints feature peonies and butterflies for a beautiful statement.

Karen Millen flash sale

Hurrah for payday weekend. Now that the obligatory night out is over, it's time for a very necessary payday treat. The Christmas sales are still dragging on, so now is the perfect time to get a real treat at a bargain price....or a couple of treats if you're someone like me! Karen Millen have a flash sale on at the moment and there are some fab bargains to be had. I love the red silk  dress, the simple shape and nipped in waist are super flattering. I also love the marble print dress, a great dress to take you from work to the bar. The flash sale ends at 5pm tomorrow to get your skates on!

Sh*t fashion people say

Over the past few weeks, they have been so many "sh*t....say" videos and truth be told, it's getting a bit tired and boring. I do love the "Sh*t fashion girls say" video - everything is so true. The second one came out this week and even my favourite Twitter personality OscarPRGirl got in on the action. I think we're going to be quoting these videos as much as Clueless and Mean Girls, they are just totes amaze! What's your favourite video and quote?

Friday Fashion Fix

Collaboration nation.

This month has already seen a heap of collaboration announcements and here are two more to throw into the mix: Zac Posen for Lord & Taylor and Nanette Lepore for J.C Penney. Zac Posen's collection will be fairly exclusive, with just 12 dresses going into 30 Lord & Taylor stores in April while Nanette Lepore's collection will be much larger and go into over 600 stores. It's a multi-year deal which launches in 2013.

Victoria's Secret goes high end.

Victoria's Secret actually included some pieces of it's high end collection in the fashion show in November, but kept the details top secret. Entitled The Victoria's Secret Designer Collection features luxury fabrics and is inspired by Parisian fashion.

Celine show cancelled.

Celine's show at the impending Paris Fashion Week has been cancelled as creative director Phoebe Philo is pregnant. LVMH took the decision to simplify things for Philo, the collection is likely to be presented in a more informal setting to allow her to take things easy during her pregnancy.

Beth Ditto for Mac.

Mac sure is investing a lot of time and money into their collaborations. By my reckoning,  they've just realised three collaborations in just three months following Gareth Pugh, Daphne Guinness and Iris Apfel. They have just announced their newest collaboration and Mac muse: Beth Ditto. Details haven't been released just yet but the campaign image below suggests her signature eyeliner will be a key feature alongside nail polishes.

Karl by Karl, for Karl.

Karl Lagerfeld's highly anticipated "masstige" collection entitled Karl launched earlier on this week exclusively to Net-a-Porter. The marketing behind it has been great, with  physical, offline launch as well the web launch and resulting Twitter conversation. They also recorded this genius video of Lagerfeld interviewing himself. Enjoy!

Givenchy Couture Spring 2012

I'm sure my posts about Givenchy couture shows are all the time so I will keep this short: The collection is exquisite, the workmanship is incredible and I love Tisci's vision. One of the dresses took 350 hours to make as the crocodile scales were individually cut, numbered, bleached, dyed and resewn onto tulle. Incredible

Become a Sarenza brand ambassador!

As regular readers and Twitter followers will know, I became a brand ambassador for super shoe site Sarenza. Sounds serious, right? As Peter Parker's uncle stated "with great power comes great responsibility" and I take my ambassadorship very seriously. As well as taking part in a crazy fancy dress high heel race in Paris, I'd the difficult task of choosing how to spend my monthly £150 allowance. If you think that sounds like a sweet deal and want in on the action, today is your lucky day. One of my fellow ambassadors has sadly left the program which means that we have one spot open. To enter, all you have to do is pick your favourite pair of shoes, write a short post on them and tweet @SarenzaUK with your link and the hashtag #SarenzaAmbassador. Simple.

Chanel Couture Spring 2012

Twitter was all a-buzz with talk of Chanel Air before their couture show, the talk of air hostesses serving drinks and a cloud painted ceiling was intriguing. The setting seemed less ostentatious than previous stages and it was the perfect backdrop for a lighter, pared back collection. Karl Lagerfeld might not be feeling blue but his collection was only blue, 150 different shades to be exact. The collection was classically elegant but with a more youthful feel. The open boat necks and severe dropped waist detailing and subtle embroidery and embellishment gave a fresh, contemporary edge. A surprising number of day looks signifies that Chanel couture is a real business, not a red carpet only affair.

Wednesday Wish List: Aztec Prints

It’s time to step into Spring; the end of January is in sight and payday is just around the corner hurrah! Nothing brightens up your wardrobe better than a bold hue or a prominent print and sure enough, florals were all over the Spring catwalks. Again. To quote Meryl Streep’s character in The Devil Wears Prada: “Forals, for spring. Groundbreaking”. Florals will always have their place, particularly when you’re in a playful, feminine mood, but we can do a little better than that. Punchy Aztec and Navajo prints started emerging last spring/summer and have really come into their own this year.

Isabel Marant always has some Aztec prints and recently Pamela Love has been inspired by all things Navajo. Diane von Furstenberg’s resort 2012 collection featured lovely Ikat prints and over on this side of the pond, everyone from Burberry to David Koma and Holly Fulton pepped up their collections with a spot Aztec print. The high street has fully embraced the trend this season with everyone from ASOS to New Look offering gorgeous pieces. Here are my top picks of Aztec inspired pieces on the high street:

Christian Dior Couture Spring 2012

A Galliano-shaped hole remains in the House of Dior and after last season's horrendous couture show, I think everyone was on the edge of their seats to see what would become of one of the most iconic of the couture houses. Bill Gaytten delved deep into the Dior archives, evident in the use of houndstooth, the "New Look silhouette, full skirts and just a dash of Dior drama. Described by Gaytten as "X-ray Dior...all the structure of iconic Dior, but all of it see-through", the collection was well recieved with The Telegraph's Lisa Armstrong describing it as "A class act by any standards". Though there were still a couple of sub-par pieces, I enjoyed the ladylike, feminine collection in delicate fabrics. There aren't many red carpet choices but the beauty of the collection speaks for itself without the need for celebrities.

Why blogger awards don't matter...

Dust off your finest gown and drop that gorgeous cocktail dress off at the dry-cleaners, it’s that time of year again – awards season! The awards season is definitely a marathon rather than a sprint, with the Globes, SAG, Oscars and BAFTAs coming up in short succession. All eyes are on the red carpet to dissect the attendees sartorial choice and decide whether they were a hit or miss. Over the last couple of weeks though, the spotlight has been on bloggers. Two major weekly glossies have announced their shortlist for fashion and/or beauty bloggers. How exciting for those who have made the cut; time to rally up the troops (readers) and get your hard earned community to vote and spread the word, right? Actually, you might want to think twice about that.

Atelier Versace Spring 2012

One of the most anticipated shows of this couture season, Atelier Versace returned to the couture week schedule after an eight year hiatus. It's fitting then that the super-brand had a star studded front row including Anna Dello Russo, Cameron Diaz and Diane Kruger to view the 15-piece collection modeled by the likes of Karlie Kloss, Lindsey Wixson, Karmen Pedaru and Arizona Muse. There were some really strong looks, particularly the shimmery slivers of silver Chantilly lace making up the first few looks, the shorter Versace gold dresses and the degrade orange strapless dress. There were weaker looks which looked like an awkward, hurried rehash of previous Givenchy/Armani Prive/Chanel collections. The architectural, sculptural details were a bit of departure from the prettier, more romantic Atelier Versace look - see Angelina Jolie at last week's Golden Globes or Anne Hathaway's infamous dress from the Atelier. I'm not sure how many of these pieces will be seen on the red carpet, but I'm sure the likes of Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Beyonce and Kim Kardashian will love them.

Lanvin Homme Hiver 2012

Some brands really do embrace social media and use it well, not just the obvious examples such as Burberry and Oscar de la Renta's OscarPRGirl on Twitter. Lanvin have been quietly doing their thing on Facebook, posting their fabulous videos as well as press mentions and behind-the-scenes shots. This is exactly what luxe brands should be using social for; while high street stores harness social primarily for product and collections, luxury brands need to give a little bit of insight into their inner sanctum. Each of Lanvin's photo albums has upwards of 300 likes plus comments and shares, showing that their community is highly engaged in their activity.

Oscar de la Renta SS12 campaign

Oscar de la Renta has impeccable taste, he's tapped my favourite glamazon for his spring/summer 2012 campaign. The bold campaign features Karlie's signature death stare, incredible legs and bold colours against a geometric black and white floor; making for quite the statement. What do you think of the campaign?

Eskimo PR SS12 press day

A couple of months ago, I popped over to the Oui Rooms to take a sneak peek at Eskimo PR's spring/summer 2012 press day. They represent some super cool brands, here are my favourite collections:

Chinese Laundry: Launched over 20 years ago, Chinese Laundry are masters of quirky, statement footwear. Snakeskin is continuing to be a strong trend for spring and I loved the coloured chunky platforms, patterned wedges and pretty patent pastel heels.

Wednesday Wish List - pretty pastels

The temperature dial may have slipped into the subzero end of the scale and thermals may have replaced your pjs (just me?) but let's keep positive, spring is just around the corner. The sale rails and transitional collections have made way for gorgeously merchandised spring pieces in store which means it must be close. As much as I love brights for making a statement, I'm really glad to see pretty pastels making a quiet appearance too. Seen on the catwalks of 3.1 Phillip Lim, Ralph Lauren, Prada, Versus and Carolina Herrera, the saccharine sweet sherbert shades are a breath of fresh air are seasons of brights and colour blocking. Whether you fancy pairing a pastel piece with cool neutrals for a subtle look or making like a box of Laduree goodies and fully embracing the trend, there are some really great pieces hitting the shops right now. I adore the patent heels from New Look and the coloured jeans. The skirt in the middle is actually Acne, the print is so pretty. Will you be embracing the pastel trend this season?

The Friis & Company studded boots

I spied these studded beauties on Sarenza and knew that I had to have them. I don't know what a certified heels addict like me is doing falling in lust with a pair of flat boots; what can I say, sometimes you can't help falling for something that just isn't your type. Isn't that always the way? I've Instagrammed them a few times already but I don't think they have really done them justice for these are a truly beautiful pair of boots. The slight sheen, the perfectly places studs highlighting the toes and heel, the shiny cowboy boot buckles; there are a lot of details which give them a nonchalant attitude and edge.

Lana Del Rey

The latter half of 2011 was all about the one woman wonder who is Lana Del Rey which means that there will be no escaping her haunting melodies in 2012, so I think it's about time we get properly acquainted. Although she's been quietly working away for a few years (her first EP Kill Kill was released in 2008), she was only catapulted into the public sphere with the release of the iconic Video Games in June 2011. With her highly anticipated album Born to Die due to be released later this month, 2012 is set to be a stellar year for the singer. Her dreamy, pretty vintage aesthetic has also entranced the fashion world - she's already landed several covers and editorials as well as performing at the Mulberry dinner in LA and Dior show in Beijing while Christopher Kane and Emilio de la Morena featured her music in their SS12 shows. The cherry on top of the fashion industry approval cake was being signed by Next Model Management.

Friday Fashion Fix

Roberto Cavalli SS12 campaign.
What a stunning campaign and an interesting casting choice. Cavalli partnered certified supers Naomi Campbell, Karen Elson and Kristen McMenamy with rising star Daphne Groeneveld. Placing the 17 year old amongst such esteemed company is a big statement. This is one of my favourite campaigns of the season, what do you think of it?

Tom Ford SS12 campaign.
I'm a big fan of this Tom Ford shot campaign, as usual it's so visually rich and sumptuous. I'm pleased to see a model I spotted years ago in the campaign too, Mirte Maas looks absolutely beautiful with male model Mathias Bergh. The expressions and smiles are a very welcome break from the vacant faces we usually see in campaigns.

Moschino and Belstaff come to London.
Great news for the London Fashion Week roster, British heritage brand Belstaff are returning to the schedule after a three year haitus and Moschino's Cheap & Chic label are leaving Milan to show in London. I'm glad to see that London isn't losing it's growing momentum, despite all of the scheduling issues between itself, New York, Milan and Paris.

The "Louis Vuitton - Marc Jacobs" exhibit.
The Musee des Arts Decoratifs at The Louvre is set to become home to a duel exhibit celebrating Marc Jacobs' 15 years at the helm of Louis Vuitton. Opening on 15th March, the same night of Louis Vuitton's AW12 show, the exhibition will take up two floors - one dedicated to the late Louis Vuitton's designs and one full of Jacobs' designs. One not to be missed.

Louboutin goes Crazy.
More Parisian based news. Word on the street is French footwear designer Christian Louboutin is releasing a collaboration with infamous Parisian cabaret Crazy Horse. Intrigued is not the word, cannot wait to see pictures of this collaboration.

Mary Katrantzou x Longchamp.
Imagine how jaw-droppingly beayutiful Mary Katrantzou's signature digital prints would look on a bag. The guys at Longchamp did just that and went one better, made our dreams reality. The "East meets West" theme includes paper lanterns, dragons and elegant Asian architecture making for an unmissable combination. The collection launches in Colette on 23rd January.

Taylor Tomasi Hill for Lane Crawford.

Ex Teen Vogue and Marie Claire accessories director Taylor Tomasi Hill is a self confessed "style chameleon" and a street style staple so it was only going to be a matter of time before she ventured down the capsule collection path. Her seven-piece capsule collection for Lane Crawford launched this week in the Hong Kong store and is also available online at LaneCrawford.com with international shipping. I love the vivid abstract floral print pieces, the trousers are pictured below.

Wanted: Up and coming fashion designers.

Twenty Twenty TV are looking for new, up and coming fashion designers for their new TV show. I can't say too much about it but what I can tell you is the you will be designing outfits for some massive stars and be mentored by some of the most respected names in the industry. The ten week competition starts in spring 2012, and auditions will be held all over the country at the end of January. If you think you’ve got what it takes and want to find out more please email applications@twentytwenty.tv or call 0207 4247715.

Prada SS12 accessories

Mrs Prada has a definite knack for translating her kooky inspirations into fabulous pieces that we all covet. Whether its baroque mixed with jungle prints or a timeless look mixing modernity and classicism, her inspirations go on to inspire all the way down the fashion food chain to lower priced lines and the high street. I have a feeling that even SS12’s abstract 50s hotrods-inspired accessories will be a huge hit on the high street. How could it not? The collection is quirky and insanely and utterly desirable I adore the headlight details and the Grease-esque flame details, these babies are sure to get you shot by the likes of Tommy Ton. The collection is nicely balanced with some extremely ladylike elements. My favourite is the Pyramide bag, simplistic and chic it comes in baby blue and pale yellow as well as a more punchy cherry red. Which Prada aesthetic do you prefer, sporty or chic?

Wednesday Wish List

One of the things I love most about the London fashion scene is the tremendous amount of support offered to young, emerging designers. From New Gen and Fashion Fringe to Fashion East, there are so many initiatives to give creatives a platform and business mentoring which is why there is such a wealth of design talent who go on to make their mark on the international fashion industry. Bright Young Things is one of the newer initiatives, launched last year by iconic department store Selfridges. They provided young creatives the kind of exposure an emerging designer can only dream of - one of their much talked about and publicised window displays. The likes of Kirsty Ward, Simone Rocha, Martine Rose and Matthew Miller were part of the original line up and have gone on to achieve great things in 2011.

The sequin shorts

Just before Christmas, I was shopping in Topshop and stumbled upon some midnight blue high waisted, tiny sequin shorts. My inner fashion magpie was immediately drawn to them but the tiny bit of my brain which worries about practicality wasn't convinced. The worst thing about shopping solo is not having an enabler on hand to justify those impractical purchases. So thank you to Instagram for letting me share a picture (above) of me wearing the shorts and thanks to the dozen or so enablers who immediately encouraged me to buy them. Now, with the shopping bag swingingly happily from my hand, I just needed to figure out how to dress them down....

Monday treat - Douglas Booth

Ouch, why do Monday mornings come around so quickly? Christmas is but a distant memory and payday feels like a lifetime away, welcome to mid January. That’s where the bad news ends because this whole week on Fashion Daydreams is being dedicated to beautiful things, pretty people and brightening up your January. And what better way to kick it off than with a beautiful face? Let me introduce you to Mr Douglas Booth. At just 19, the model/actor as had a stellar career so far and I’ve got a feeling that the best is yet to come.

H&M Spring 2012 lookbook

H&M are without a doubt one of my favourite high street stores at the moment. They never fail to translate catwalk trends at purse-friendly prices. Their two Spring 2012 lookbooks really blew me away, I could imagine myself wearing every single piece which, for me, is the sign of a great lookbook. I love the asymmetric blouses, minimalistic brights and luxe feel.
