The Katya Katya Shehurina Twenties-inspired gown

A while ago, one of my best friends got married and was having a thoroughly elegant, 1920s themed hen do. On the one hand, I was so glad avoid a garish hen do outfit (seriously, why do girls do it?!) but on the other, I was absolutely stumped on what to wear. Although the Twenties were a strong influence on the catwalk and with The Great Gatsby film coming out very soon, the high street should be littered with gorgeous beaded flapper dresses but alas, I came across a distinct lack of suitable dresses. That's when up and coming, high end designer Katya Katya Shehurina came to my rescue.

The Latvian designer is one of the premier designers of Eastern Europe and is extremely popular in Russia and the Middle East, after completing her studies at a design school in Paris and working for Nicolas Faffiotte and David Purves. After playing dress up in the Kingly Court store, the store manager stumbled upon a sample which hadn't even gone into production from a collection inspired by the Twenties...and do you know what, it was perfect. The dropped waist, floor length gown is simple but it looks absolutely perfect on. The tie waist and pleat detailing really nip it in and create volume in the right places. I kept it simple with some simple pearls, wavy hair and red lips, after all why distract from such a beautiful gown?

  2. Wow that really is beautiful. Love the twenties influence but some of the flapper style dresses can look a bit bit much, this is perfect, so elegant.
