It’s time to step into Spring; the end of January is in sight and payday is just around the corner hurrah! Nothing brightens up your wardrobe better than a bold hue or a prominent print and sure enough, florals were all over the Spring catwalks. Again. To quote Meryl Streep’s character in The Devil Wears Prada: “Forals, for spring. Groundbreaking”. Florals will always have their place, particularly when you’re in a playful, feminine mood, but we can do a little better than that. Punchy Aztec and Navajo prints started emerging last spring/summer and have really come into their own this year.
Isabel Marant always has some Aztec prints and recently Pamela Love has been inspired by all things Navajo. Diane von Furstenberg’s resort 2012 collection featured lovely Ikat prints and over on this side of the pond, everyone from Burberry to David Koma and Holly Fulton pepped up their collections with a spot Aztec print. The high street has fully embraced the trend this season with everyone from ASOS to New Look offering gorgeous pieces. Here are my top picks of Aztec inspired pieces on the high street:
Clockwise from top left:
Topshop Aztec clock - £15
Topshop Aztec sun top - £26
Miss Selfridge oblong ring - £3.75
New Look neon Aztec cuff - £5.99
Own The Runway Aztec belted shorts - £19.99
New Look Aztec hooded scarf - £9.99

I'm loving seeing so many Aztec prints creep up around me, don't get me wrong I am incredibly faithful to stripes (well we can all pretend we are as chic as audrey Tatou & Coco Chanel can't we?) & florals, but I am massively loving these prints & the colours. Can't wait to wear them.
