Chanel Couture Spring 2012
Twitter was all a-buzz with talk of Chanel Air before their couture show, the talk of air hostesses serving drinks and a cloud painted ceiling was intriguing. The setting seemed less ostentatious than previous stages and it was the perfect backdrop for a lighter, pared back collection. Karl Lagerfeld might not be feeling blue but his collection was only blue, 150 different shades to be exact. The collection was classically elegant but with a more youthful feel. The open boat necks and severe dropped waist detailing and subtle embroidery and embellishment gave a fresh, contemporary edge. A surprising number of day looks signifies that Chanel couture is a real business, not a red carpet only affair.
