QVC Jewellery Event

Last week, I popped along to the cute and quirky Soho Hotel to meet up with QVC’s jewellery buyers and two of the hottest new designers on their impressive roaster – Lauren Adriana and Ana De Costa. Lauren is a qualified gemmologist and explained that she works with precious stones to create really special pieces for one collection a year, similar to Ana who also has one collection a year and creates bespoke pieces in silver. Partnering with QVC allows them to create larger diffusion collections and reach a larger audience, while retaining their design integrity and aesthetic.
As an absolute jewellery addict, I was in my element checking out pieces from both of these talented ladies as well as Tomasz Donocik and SHO who also have collections with QVC. I think Lauren's big, bold 70s inspired collection was probably my favourite , unfortunately it didn't photograph very well in the lighting. Ana's collection was very light and girly while Tomasz's collection was clearly inspired by architecture and surrealism, making for some very distinctive designs.

Model Spotlight: Frida Gustavvson

I hold my hands up, I have a girl crush on Frida Gustavsson and after this post you will too. She's only been signed to IMG for little over two years but had racked up a more than impressive - not to mention extensive - list of campaigns, covers, editorials and shows. Within weeks of signing, she walked for Valentino couture as well as her first Vogue Italia editorial. Major labels including Carolina Herrera, Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta, Luella, Gianfranco Ferre and Gareth Pugh featured Frida on their catwalks, in her first round of shows. Impressive. She went on to walk almost all the major couture shows from Armani Prive and Valentino to Christian Dior and Chanel as well as several editorials and covers including W, AnOther and French/Italian/British Vogue. Now a seasoned regular on the catwalk, she opens and closes for the likes of Marc Jacobs and Lanvin. In just two years, she almost makes the other supers look like slackers. She also has incredible personal style, she's no stranger to the likes of Facehunter and Jak & Jil. If that's not enough to convince you, feast your eyes on her beautiful face and killer legs.

Aussie Lusciously Light Summer Soiree

On Saturday, something rather epic happened. The Aussie Angels from the North and the Aussie Angels from the South were united for the first time ever for the Aussie Lusciously Light Summer Soiree. It took place in the gorgeous Sunbeam studios which had been transformed into a photo studio, hair salon and bar, complete with a candy floss corner. I know..they spoil us!

I had a sneaking suspicion that there would be hairstylists on hand so I didn't do a lot to my hair, just the signature Reena look. This involves spritzing freshly washed hair with Aussie leave-in conditioner, rough drying your hair for about 10 minutes until almost dry, another quick spritz with the leave-in conditioner then twisting your hair into a very rough bun whilst you finish getting ready and travelling to your destination. Once there, undo the bun and give your head a quick shake et voila - a natural, voluminous wavy look.

My hair was styled by the lovely Perry, founder of the newly opened Blue Tit salon in Dalston. He loved my hair as it was and just made the waves a little curlier and added a bit of texture. Amy from Wolf Whistle definitely had the make over of the day. Perry's partner in crime spent hours curling her hair and then brushing it out to create a candy floss masterpiece. How amazing does she look?

Huge thanks to the Aussie team and the guys at Blue Tit for such a lovely day.

Medwinds UK launch

Last week, Spanish-based basics label Medwinds hit the UK and they kindly invited me to Cube PR's gorgeous gallery space for their press launch. You may remember I attended the Spanish launch a couple of months ago which I blogged about here. It's hard to believe the company is brand new. In case you missed my previous posts, they're a Spanish online-only retailer offering great quality basics and accessories. The website is so easy to use and they offer fashion clothing with free delivery and returns across Europe which is fantastic service.

Anyway, back to the launch party! Again, I was impressed by the quality and lovely soft cottons and leather. Everything was just so soft and stroke-able. The accessories were really the highlight, I'm sure the range of shoes is larger now as I've discovered some new gems - the loafers look deliciously squishy and comfy.

Thank you to the Medwinds team and Cube PR for a lovely evening.

Brighton Fashion Week Pt 2

Last week, I posted about my time at Brighton Fashion Week, but it wasn't all hard work on the front row for Fiona and I. We took a stroll down to the pier to experience a stereotypical Brighton day, avec our homies Steph from Deer Brains and Mariana from Sketchbook. If something was on the list of things to do whilst in Brighton, we did it. Hanging out on the pier? Check. Hogging the deckchairs? Done. Chips on the beach? Oh yes. Riding on the carousel? You betcha. I attempted to take outfit posts on the beach, it wasn't a good idea! Fiona's vintage skirt was definitely a good idea though, especially as it matches with the graffiti we found scattered all over town.

I absolutely adore the skirt I wore, which is from Miss Selfridge. I was in store just browsing to kill time but just had to have it. I've been a big fan of semi sheer skirts for a while but the asymmetric cut of this skirt made me want it instantly. As it was a bright, sunny day, I paired it with a shocking pink sheer top from New Look. I adore the huge sequins, I kept the accessories simple and just wore a subtle necklace from Gogo Philips with it. Again with the matching, I wore a brown vintage belt and brown heels from Asos.
