Friday Fashion Fix - December 2011

Karlie Kloss lands Vogue Italia cover.

Hot on the heels of her Victoria's Secret debut, Karlie is turning up the heat on the cover of Vogue Italia. Shot by Steve Meisel, Karlie has the gaze of a lioness on the cover while she ruches up her dress to her hip with the words 'extra strength' emblazoned on her behind. That's but a taster of the spectacular editorial inside. Karlie looks absolutely unreal, with the figure of a goddess it's hard to believe she was on the cover of Teen Vogue just 4 years ago. I have just three words to say: The. Next. Super.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley covers UK Harper's Bazaar.

Meanwhile, further West and on another fashion magazine, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is on the cover of UK Harper's Bazaar's Body Issue. Both Karlie and Rosie look equally stunning on their covers and in their editorials but I see Rosie as more realistic and attainable whereas Karlie looks like a total glamazon. Which cover do you prefer?

The 2012 Pirelli calendar.

I'm going to be posting the images from next year's stunning calendar but wanted to give you a little behind-the-scenes video teaser.

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld makes her design debut.

Carine's extremely talented and beautiful daughter Julia can now add designer to her existing talents which include graphic designer, model, muse and photographer. Julia has designed a capsule lingerie collection for Kiki de Montparnasse which will be available to purchase next week. She also took on the role of model for the sepia-toned vintage-inspired lookbook.

Introducing the "Magic Dress".

Sounds like a miracle piece of clothing, right? A dress which compresses and controls the female form while playing with texture to both highlight curves and play down wobbly bits. That's exactly what Chinese-Glaswegian designer Yan To has done. By designing on real bodies or mannequins, he works with womanly curves rather than against them and using stretch elastic and fabric engineering coupled with a dash of science, a spoonful of mathematic calculation and more than a smidge of visual creativity, Yan has created a masterpiece of a dress. Available at Young British Designers, this dress is not to be missed.
