Maria Francesca Pepe Autumn/Winter 2011

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get to Maria Francesca Pepe’s presentation at LFW in February, I was gutted as the images showed me that I missed a really remarkable collection. The collection has several influences including surrealism, tribal cultures, manga and medieval encapsulated into a very dark, bold collection. Featuring The long languid shapes and sheaths of silk chiffon add a slightly softer edge but without losing the dramatic aesthetic. The use of punkish studs and jewellery as adornment adds a tough, glamourous edge. Though not to everyone's taste, what I liked about this collection is it's darkness, MFP wasn't afraid to push the boundaries.
