The end of Kate Moss x Topshop

News broke yesterday that Kate Moss' 3 year design deal with Topshop will end after her last collection is released in October. I remember the media frenzy back when the deal was announced and the manic scenes outside the Oxford Street flagship store on the first day her range came out. The frenzy sure silenced her many critics, the ranges were a huge success for both Sir Phillip Green and Kate. However, in recent years, the number of ranges Kate has designed per year has decreased, and the reason for ending the collaboration is cited as Kate's schedule and not being able to devote enough time to design. However well received her collections were, three years is a very, very long time for a celebrity collaboration. These partnerships are never meant to last long, the likes of Target and H&M tend to just do one off collaborations in order to keep collections current and fresh. The collections were all very 'Kate' which I suppose is the point, but they didn't seem to show any growth or development. Topshop aren't severing all ties though, they are set to relaunch some of the most popular pieces and continue with a couple of small capsule collections twice a year.
