Golden Globes 2009 Fashion

Here are my picks from the Golden Globes 2009! Not necessarily the best, some I don't actually like. Let's just call it the Most Noteworthy Dresses of the Golden Globes!
Anne Hathaway in Armani Prive
The dress is flawless, absolutely stunning. I love that shade of blue for evening wear, much more chic and original than black. But I think Anne should have done something different with her hair or makeup, she's very pretty but doesn't look it here.
Freida Pinto in Christian Lacroix Haute Couture
Absolutely love this, one of my favourite looks. Beautiful dress, and I love that she kept the accessories understated.
Eva Mendez in Dior
Hmmm not a fan. Can't put my finger on it. It's not very well fitting on the busy, and the stiff fabric looks a bit like paper. I like the statement necklace with the simple dress though. Salma Hayek in Bottega Venetta
A simple dress is all that's needed to compliment that stunning figure!! Again, keeping the accessories simple.
Kate Winslett in Yves Saint Laurent
Kate looks perfect, the dress suits her and I love the belt detail. Hair and makeup perfectly compliments the outfit.
Eva Longoria in Reem Acra
This dress looks like it was made for Eva. One of my favourite looks.
Angelina Jolie in Versace
Angie does it best in very simple, Grecian-style dresses. She looks very statuesque and beautiful. Not a fan of the hair though.
Jennifer Lopez in Marchesa
A lot of people panned this dress, but I kinda love it. Not sure it suits J.Lo's curvy figure as much as it suits skinny models. Don't bash me for saying that!! I'm not advocating anorexia at all, different things suit different shapes. On Jennifer, you can't help but notice her bum, chest and figure. On a skinny model, you notice the dress.
Heidi Klum in vintage Galliano
Something different, and I love it! A bit risky for the Globes but a knee-length dress is quite refreshing. And those shoes...love them!
Beyonce in Elie Saab
Looks like B has turned her back on the Fashionista stage she started and has gone back to shiny and glamorous. It's an alright dress, but I can't help but think she's uncomfortable, it looks so tight!!
Drew Barrymore in Dior
Drew looks absolutely amazing! Sexy but not in an obvious way. It's all in the details - off the shoulder and sheer. A sheer blue dress could have gone very wrong but this is perfection. Her hair looks a bit 80s wind tunnel, but we can overlook that!
Evan Rachel Wood in Elie Saab
I like, it's nice to see Evan step away from Dita's shadow and find her own style.
Kate Beckinsale in J.Mendel
I love this, it reminds me of a Cala Lilly...which is my favourite flower so it's definitely a good thing!
Tiny Fey in unknown
Not normally a fan of black dresses but I like this.
Jane Krakowski in unknown
Love this dress, elegant and chic Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta
Love this, I think black dresses work best with some kind of texture or sparkle to add interest.
Rumer Willis in Reem Acra
Never thought I would ever write this but I love what Rumur is wearing! The colour looks great on her skin, the shape complements her and the belt is a great touch.
Blake Lively in Nina Ricci
From the waist up, I love it, from the waist down it's boring. I was expecting more from the Gossip Girls. Isla Fisher in Carlos Miele
I don't think the colour suits her, but it's a stunning dress.
Renee Zellweger in Carolina Herrera
A brave choice, but I'm so over black and gothic-inspired clothes. The colour of her basque is baffling me, surely black would have been a better choice? From a distance you can't help but stare at her boobs and close up it just looks weird.
Cameron Diaz in Chanel
Cameron looks gorgeous, I expected something a bit more boring from her. Love the ring, but I think she could have done something better with the hair, it's too casual for the Chanel. Maggie Gyllenhaal in Lanvin I love Maggie for this look! The most interesting choice on the red carpet. Love the print, the colour on her, the big bow and the nipped in waist. Perfection. So, lessons that we've learnt? Accessories are out, unless it's a subtle clutch or a bling ring. Leave the attention for your dress. Nude shades seem very popular too, as are one shoulder or strapless dresses. The big question is, what's your favourite look? * Source Getty, Fab Sugar, Yahoo photos, People Style Watch

  1. I loved Kate Beckinsale's dress. And Kate Winslet. My two favourites, then Blake Lively, but I think it's just because she's so stunning.

  5. I was so underwhelmed by Blake Lively. She;s young she should have worn something more exciting. All around I thought the looks at this years show were subpar. Maybe the oscars will be better?

  12. I personally adore Eva Mendes in Dior, she looks wonderful. Beyonce and Blake Lively look like they get fatter than the dress allowed... they look terrible! Cameron's Chanel was stunning, and I totally hate Drew's hair
